What is a louvre roof?
A louvre roof is an outdoor roof made of aluminium blades you can rotate. Open them for sun, angle them for shade, or close them flat to keep the rain out. We supply and install Bask louvre roof systems, custom-made in New Zealand, across Kerikeri, the Bay of Islands and Northland.
A deck is only as good as the weather lets it be. An adjustable louvre roof changes that — open it up for full sun, angle it for shade, or close it flat in the rain, all from a remote or a rain sensor.
Paired with glass or aluminium walls, it becomes a genuine outdoor room: somewhere to use whatever Northland’s weather is doing.
We supply Bask louvre and outdoor products, so the roof itself is backed by a proven system — we handle the measuring, structure and installation around it.

What affects the price?
Every outdoor area is different, so we measure first and quote after. The price depends on:

What's the difference between SunPivot and SunFold?
Both have aluminium blades that tilt to control sun and shade. SunFold blades can also retract and stack to one side, opening up to 75% of the roof to the sky.
What do the rain and wind sensors do?
A rain sensor closes the louvre roof automatically when it starts to rain, so the area stays dry even when you're not home. A wind sensor rolls the drop-down blinds back up when the wind gets too strong. We help you choose the settings.
Can I control it with a remote?
Yes. One remote can run the louvre roof, the outdoor blinds and the lighting.
Can you turn it into a full outdoor room?
Yes. We add Glaslide glass sliding doors, sliding aluminium louvre screens or Solarzip outdoor blinds to close in the sides.
Does it have to attach to my house?
No. Bask louvre roofs can be wall-mounted, freestanding, or built into the house. Most homes can take a wall-mounted roof, fixed to a large lintel above the windows or to the studs behind weatherboard or sheet cladding. Brick homes may need support from the roof structure, which we talk through when we measure.
How big can a louvre roof be?
Almost any size. Larger areas are covered with several louvre roof sections joined together, and each section can be opened and closed on its own. The largest size for a single section is set by the NZ Building Code standards.
Can it be made to suit my house?
Yes. Every Bask louvre roof is custom-made to fit your space and your home.
Where does the rainwater go?
Into a gutter built into the frame, then down pipes hidden inside the aluminium legs and out through an outlet at the bottom. You choose which legs carry the downpipes, usually the one closest to your stormwater drain.
Can I collect the rainwater?
Yes. The downpipes can run into a water tank. The powder-coated aluminium needs little cleaning, so the water is fairly clean, but it must be treated before you drink it.
What colours are available?
Any colour in the Dulux powder coat range. Non-standard colours cost extra, and we can show you the colour chart.
Can I have more than one colour?
Yes. The louvre blades and the frame can be different colours, so the roof blends in with your house.
Can I add blinds or LED lighting later?
Yes, but it's best to choose them when you order. They can be built in while your roof is being made, and adding them later can mean taking large parts apart. If you'd like them in future, tell us at the start so the fittings are built in ready.
Do you also do fixed pergola roofs?

Which brand do you use?
Bask only. Bask systems are custom-made in New Zealand and designed with New Zealand weather in mind.
How much does a louvre roof cost?
It depends on the size, the roof type, the add-ons you choose, how complex the install is, and how far you are from our Waipapa workshop. The measure and quote are free.
